“For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
Luke 6:45 & Matthew 12:34
You can trust what they—someone you (thought you) know for years—say in these two situations:
When they are angry
When they are drunk
Nothing reveals the spirit like anger and liquor.
Today, I want to present a wisdom I should have learned the wise way but ended up learning the hard way, as I ignored the teachings of wisdom.
But thank God I learned, so you may learn the wise way.
In the article:
Nothing exposes the spirit like anger
The No.1 trait of the sons of Satan is deceit
The tongue always reveals the heart
Nothing exposes the spirit like anger
“Be angry, but sin not.” Ephesians 4:26
Both liars and honest men can be quick to anger, but you will see who is who in their anger.
An honest man might rant and curse, but there won’t be any surprises.
A liar, however, will shock you with their tongue.
That shock comes from the exposure of their heart.
Anger is like a spirit of exposure. No spirits can hide when this spirit is at work.
A good wife, in her anger, will still cook dinner grudgingly.
A good husband, in his rage, will still come home to sleep on the couch.
I have seen my parents fight—a hot fight followed by a cold war—for as long as a whole week, but neither sinned, not even a thought of divorce or adultery.
The spirit of anger testifies to the spirit of faithfulness.
Anger is common in men. It is an inseparable part of masculinity, regardless of how toxic that may sound to feminists. But discernment draws the line here: a righteous man in his anger will not sin. A righteous man’s anger overthrows corruption, burns down demonic altars, and establishes authority and power—it’s about death and resurrection.
The spirit of anger, likewise, exposes all the spirits of evil, particularly the spirit of deceit.
The most common manifestations of the spirit of deceit are lying, slandering, and cheating.
Some hustlers might find this too “radical,” since this world is full of deceit, and it’s foolish to attend a costume party with your true face.
I used to find that convincing because the unrighteous steward in Jesus’s parable is flawed in his morality, yet he is praised by his master. The difference is that the unrighteous steward benefits not just himself but also others. People are God’s top concern. The discernment is whether your dishonesty benefits or damages others.
You will not know how someone sees you until they go off at you. If you’re shocked by what gushes out of their mouth, they are liars. And because they are liars, chances are that once they calm down, they will apologize and say they “lost their minds” and didn’t mean what they said.
That’s just another lie.
Whatever spirits you perceived in their anger—you can trust those.
You will know if a person truly loves you when they are mad at you. You will also know what else is in their proclamation of love—lust, manipulation, jealousy, resentment, disdain, calculation, etc.
Husbands, you will know if your wife despises you when she is angry.
Wives, you will know if your husband loves you when he is angry.
The No.1 trait of the sons of Satan is deceit
Here’s the discernment:
Although sons of God often sin with their tongues, the one sin of the tongue they are unlikely to commit is lying.
Peter, John & James (Jesus called them Sons of Thunder), and Nathanael are the perfect example.
Nathanael was the sarcastic one, the type of person who today in America would be labeled as “Nazi,” “racist,” or “elitist,” as he had a stereotypical opinion of Jesus before meeting Him: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
But as soon as Jesus saw him, He marveled, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”
Many people have talked about Jesus’s response, “I saw you under the fig tree,” which is a powerful example of the gift of prophecy in evangelism (1 Corinthians 14).
But I want to point out that Jesus defined a true Israelite as someone who has no deceit in him.
“How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit!” Psalm 32:2
We are Israelites through faith in Christ, who inherit the promise God swore to Abraham: “Through your seed all the nations shall be blessed” (Genesis 22:18, Hebrews 6:11-12, Romans 9:7-9)
And a true Israelite is the one in whom there is no deceit.
“Nobody is perfect”—true, but one bad quality is different from another.
Nathanael’s sarcasm didn’t disqualify him from being chosen, but Judas’s deceit did. First, that deceit manifested as theft; then, it became a kiss of betrayal.
Discern the spirit, for some spirits are inherited traits of Satan.
Pride and a spirit of rebellion. (Isaiah 14:12-15)
Lie and spirit of deceit. (Genesis 3:1-5) (John 8:44)
Confusion and a spirit of double-mindedness. (Job 1:7)
Violence and a spirit of murder. (John 10:10, John 8:44)
Many habitual liars have lied since they were little children. Unless they were raised in a crooked reward system, they were born crooked.
Yes, you heard me right.
Not everyone is a sheep. God’s elect are chosen before birth. Murderers can be His, prostitutes can be His, tax collectors can be His, addicts can be His, but liars—especially those who hit the ground lying—are sons of Satan.
Liars are experts at disguise, which is why Jesus compared His elect and the impostors to sheep and goats, wheat and tares.

The tongue always reveals the heart
You can all testify to this: your language changes as your heart is purified.
Now, the truth is counterintuitive.
Your heart will only be purified as you consciously change your language.
Here’s how the heart manifests through the tongue:
Slander – Jealousy
Gossip – Jealousy
Swearing – Pride, lust
Cursing – Rage, pride
Piercing – Pride, jealousy, pride
Flattery – Lust
Boasting – Pride
Belittling – Jealousy, pride
Gluttony – Idolatry, lust, pride
But what about lying? Why is "lie" not listed here?
He who conceals hatred has lying lips,
And he who spreads slander is a fool.Proverbs 10:18
Little do we know, lying is associated with hatred.
Liars are haters.
Now, if you check that list again, you’ll discover that all those evils of the heart stem from one evil—hatred.
And all those sins of the tongue stem from one sin—deceit.
People flatter, slander, swear, belittle, cuss, pierce, boast, and gossip for one common and ultimate purpose—to deceive the hearers.
Any verses come to your mind about lies, deceit, false witness or the sin of tongue?
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
His ways are always grievous; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
He hath said in his heart, “I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.”
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Psalm 10:3-7
Sister Almer Alice, what you wrote in this article is marvelous. You nailed it and I love it reading it. Im still remembered my childhood when I fall into this category you wrote. You can say I been there and I used to be that person and used to be of that Spirit. I used to have lots of short temper and a lot of anger towards my family. I believe it was the time after my parents had divorce and our family was going through rough times. Anyway, about that anger of mine was no other but hatred. That Spirit of pride and ego combined with anger and hate consumed me completely and made me into something else. There was no love for my brothers, sisters and family at all and no mercy for my actions also. Of course my big brother puts me down to the floor every time I loose control of myself, but that Spirit of mine just kept increasing into more hate and more anger in my heart. Everything that comes out of my tongues is pure evil and deceitful. My anger tongue was very direct and launching witchcraft upon people like for an example manipulation and slander words. If they don't do what I say, I nailed them down to the floor without mercy. That was how crazy I was. And yes Alice, my tongue was full of lies and deception. Nothing comes good from my tongue and the truth only comes comes out when I get vicious get annoyed with my anger of not having my way. Looking back from now, I don't miss who I were back then. If this is what the son of Satan is, well I used to be one.
When I came to Christ, everything changed. I was able to crucified my flesh along with Satan Spirit I had and repented and confess. Hallelujah and Amen.
One verse that stands out to me about a deceitful tongue is Proverbs 21:5-6,
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a snare of death.”
I find that lying is a direct result of not having the fruit of the spirit, patience. Even more, the lack of self control! I am by no means perfect and guilty of this myself.
Thanks for the article Alice!
