Praise the Lord!! Jesus literally just opened my eyes to this phenomenon this year, that fasting has become something so rare in the church these days when it is something talked about numerous times in the Bible. Or people fast from television or social media instead of food, and still continue to be tormented or lack clarity in their lives. I’ve seen the work of the Holy Spirit through fasting and praying in my own life and it is so powerful. Thank you for sharing Alice!

Fasting is intimidating at first but extremely rewarding once you challenge yourself to try. I remember how long I hesitated to fast. Then I realized that my fear of fasting was ridiculous because there were much more challenging things in life I jumped into without hesitation, and this is probably true for many who JUST can’t make the decision to fast.

The reason behind this is by no means physical but spiritual. Many strongholds will be broken. Many snakes will come out in the consuming fire of the Holy Spirit. It’s not us who dread fasting; it’s demonic strongholds and principalities.

Fasting has always been a ‘love-hate’ issue for me. I love the 3rd- or more days where your flesh is absolutely flayed from the ‘lack of nourishment’ and the spirt, your spirit, is so sensitive to the Spirt of the Living God.

This was an insightful post and a great reminder to be diligent in our walk with Christ through fasting. It should be talked about more—not for our own self righteousness, but for the glory of God. Great post!

You seem to have a good heart. Good intentions.

But I feel the need to urge you to be very careful.

A potential problem is that you are very aware of the good works you are doing. And Satan will whisper into your ear, “If YOU do more of this, YOU will achieve more good.“

Satan seeks to take people down by the same thing that took him down. Pride.

It can start with something as simple as being too liberal in our interpretation of scripture. We must stick very close to the words God preserved for us. Not doing so is what tripped up Eve in the Garden.

In some places in this post you quote scripture directly. But in other places you do a paraphrase and put the Bible verse address next to it as if you had taken the quote directly from scripture.

Satan will pull us away from the truth a little bit at a time. He is much too clever to be obvious.

I appreciate this sincere prayet request brother. I have two questions for you to answer—not to me but to God:

1. Are you sure you are a "virgin"?

2. Has virginity, marriage, or perfectionism become your idol?

Pray for God's revelations to these questions as I pray for your marriage. God bless!
