"The Parable of the Hidden Treasure" is A Hidden Treasure
Matthew 13:44āanother verse you never paid attention to.
āAgain, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.ā
Matthew 13:44
Before we dive in, letās first grasp a sense of the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus said, āFirst seek His kingdom and His righteousness and all of these will be added to you.ā
He also said, āYour kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.ā
In the Parable of Ten Minas, He said, āOccupy till I come.ā (Luke 19:13)
Now, letās meditate on these points:
āYour kingdom comeā (to where?).
āOccupy (what?) till I come.ā
āOn earth as it is in heaven.ā
So, could we comprehend it this wayā
The kingdom of heaven comes as it is the will of God. As it comes, you seek that kingdom (which comes on earth as it is in heaven) and righteousness. Then all the (good) things you desire and need on earth will be added to you.
Here are two commands of God that most Christians are unwilling to live up to because they are difficult:
Occupy (the earth) till I come.
Replenish the earth, and subdue it. (Genesis 1: 28)
Jesus asks you to occupy, replenish, and subdue before He comes.
He never says, āUse Me to justify your laziness and idleness.ā
On the contrary, He rebukes those ālazy, wickedā servants.
Laziness is wickednessāHe made it clear.
If youāre able to receive this, youāre ready to receive the revelation of Matthew 13:44.
For those of you who are hunger for understandings of Jesusās parables, hereās a podcast I strongly recommend:
Now, Matthew 13:44.
Jesus said that a man found the kingdom of heaven, which is āa treasure hidden in a fieldāā
š”Pay very close attention to that analogy:
Why didnāt Jesus compare the kingdom of heaven to just āa hidden treasureā instead? Why did He mention the āfieldā?
š±Whatās more:
The man didnāt dig out the treasure right away; instead, he hid it again and went to sell all his possessions to buy the field.
