The Underrated Strength of Femininity, and the Battle of God's Daughters (Vol.1)
Arwen, an epitome of biblical femininity, opens this discussion concerning her tremendous faith and unfailing hope, serving as an inspiration for women of this age.
“What grace is given me, let it pass to him, let him be spared, save him. ”
—Arwen’s prayer over Frodo
Like many, I didn’t understand Frodo, what qualifies him to be the hero—and trust me, I’d watched TLoTR over and over during college—until I started reading the Bible in 2022.
The intense, brutal spiritual warfare Frodo is fighting throughout the story now grips me harder than those cool battlefield scenes, as it’s so RELEVANT.
Arwen used to be even more obscure to me. "Obscure" is an euphemism. She seemed, well, quite unnecessary. I had no idea what Arwen has been doing the whole time in the movie except being melancholy and beautiful.
Until I was born again in 2023.
Until, before I realized it, I had become Arwen, and I finally understood—
Men fight with swords; women fight with faith.

🧎🏻♀️Waiting and decision-making
Ever since the Fellowship of the Ring left, Arwen has had only one job—waiting.
Ah, that already sounds like Christian living.
She’s waiting for the Fellowship to return in victory.
In the meantime, she’s under pressure to leave Middle-earth with her people, which means that even if Aragorn and the Fellowship were to win, she wouldn’t be here for their triumph.
She must make a choice.
🍂She can keep waiting here. If she does,
For sure—she will die as a mortal(she can choose immortality or mortality due to her unique lineage), with or without Aragorn.
(High)Chances are—the Fellowship fails, Aragorn dies on the battlefield, and the Middle-earth falls into Sauron’s hands, then she will be killed by Sauron.
⛵️If she chooses to leave Middle-earth with her people, for sure—
she will live eternally
the fate of Middle-earth will have nothing to do with her
she will never see Aragorn again
Notice that if she chooses NOT to wait, all outcomes are certain. There’ll be no “if.”
💬“The devil is in the reasoning”—why Arwen gives up at first
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Arwen’s father, Lord Elrond, initially convinced her to leave with the Elves, for the solid reason, which was just as Elrond stated, “There’s nothing for you here, only death.”
True.
Whether good defeats evil or not, Arwen must face death.
She will either die in Sauron’s hands or die naturally after Aragorn passes away.
She sees and feels the visceral pain when Aragorn rests in peace.
On top of that, she doesn’t want to break her father’s heart.
So she sets off with her people before dawn.
All the reasons for her departure make sense. Actually, they make the most sense.
But let me share with you this quote I’ve heard from Pastor RC Blakes:
